Should We Forget About Interior Design Trends
Design Trends-Yay or Nay
Hello design enthusiasts. Recently, Aveon Designs was a guest on a podcast called "Two Designers And A Builder Walk Into A Bar" and we were asked about design trends. That made us think more about the topic and we decided to dig deeper(link to podcast below). Is it time to forget about interior design trends? Yes, you heard us right! Instead of following the latest fad, let's focus on creating spaces that truly reflect our personality and lifestyle.

I don’t know about you, but we have never been a fan of home trends. There is something so unfulfilling and ubiquitous when everyone follows the same design aesthetic. That is why at Aveon Designs we are more and more focused on the human side of the business of home. Connecting with our clients and at a personal level is job number one. This is a proven recipe and every project we complete is never the same as the one before.
Make it stand out
During the process of designing one room or a whole house you learn so much about what you like and what you dislike. We believe only items that speak and you feel connected to should step foot in your home. This is how you truly create spaces that are authentic and tell your story. If you follow this simple rule, we guarantee that you will love your home for years to come and there will be things that you will never want to say goodbye to.

Add your own Spin
Design trends come and go, but one “movement” that we are excited about and hope is here to stay, is the newly found appreciation for old, vintage, antique pieces of furniture and accessories. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you are filling your whole house with antiques or pre-owned items(unless thats what you love), but incorporating and mixing them with the new. This evokes a nostalgic feeling that we love and live for.

THe glam Days are over
The “Glam” days are behind us. With current life events, more people are changing the way they live. We are glad to say goodbye to the glam, cold, and overstyled interiors. What people are drawn towards are more effortless and livable interiors. In no way does this mean that you need to compromise on style and beauty. What it means is that ….. It is driven by a desire for simplicity and focus on functionality.

One trend, if we may call it that, that we are excited about is the growing interest in outdoor living. Many of our clients are creating outdoor spaces that are just as comfortable and functional as their indoor spaces. This includes outdoor kitchens, seating areas for dining and leisure, fire pits and more. This is driven by the desire to be close to nature and to make more of what the outdoors has to offer and that is a sense of calm and belonging. The use of natural materials like cotton, wool and linen is replacing synthetic options and that brings us closer to nature. These materials bring a sense of warmth and authenticity to a space, and they are also more sustainable and eco-friendly.

Overall, the home design trends of the past are giving way to a new era of simplicity, functionality and bringing nature into our lives through more natural materials or by investing more in our backyards and being surrounded by nature. I am sure our way of living will continue to evolve and we are excited to see where it takes us.
